A24 has a good partnership with the director. But the market is in a very difficult position. After fox was purchased by Disney there is just a handful of these studios around to purchase and release independent films in cinemas.

In my opinion Netflix has a very different business model from Disney and is no threat to Disney. Now Disney on the other hand with it's new streaming app has already hurt netflix by holding back premieres of its new marvel movies to stream exclusively on the new Disney app. Disney is just going to get bigger from here on out. Netflix will have to deal with so many competitors fighting for the streaming market.

I hope A24 picks this up quick! They artwork and promo for both The VVitch and The Lighthouse have been immaculate. once I thought the company is the new Searchlight, but changed my mind now. Lady Bird and this year's The Ferewell & The Lighthouse got pushed terribly. also don't forget TKoaSD. they always got too namy good cards and did poorly. Neon is a decent one, or Warner, Netflix, Seachlight, Lionsgate, all good choices. I still think A24 is greatest distributor out there. TKoaSD did never stand any chances to get nominated for anything so it makes sense they focused on Lady Bird. Neon is good but A24 beats it up in terms of promotion and social media. Fox Searchlight used to be great before A24 came out. It continued to be good but now has been bought by Disney... YIKES

Well I think it has ro be said that A24 distributes really small films therefore we cannot expect them to do big numbers. Take The Farewell por example. A fantastic movie which 90% of their dialogue is chinese. We all know that American audiences are very lazy so don't expect them running and watching a movies with subtitles.

personally i do respect A24 but i prefer another studio with more maturity and experience to handle that kind of movies, the killing of a sacred deer could have been a bigger hit in term of box office numbers like final gross be around 30 million dollars and same thing with Annapurna and destroyer, too bad both studios didn't handle well neither the promotion, neither the marketing and neither the buzz for the awards, they both had a chance, they're so unique and prestigious. As for this project, i think stx can do fine in term of marketing and numbers, they accomplished a miracle with the upside!!!

I'm worried that we can't assure after they got The Northman, they'll stop seeking other films. [img class="smile" src="//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/embarrassed.png" alt=" "] just like after TKoaSD hit in Cannes, they signed Lady Bird and changed everything, as jado said, didin't even give it a The Beguiled run at boxoffice. I agree with you 100%, they're a small studio, so they need to know at some point that they should stop and focus on what they've already got. right now they're very irresponsible to me, even to their own baby TKoaSD(which they produced). i totally agree with you, as for the beguiled i'm totally fine with it status im terms of awards (at cannes) and box office (27 million $ with a budget of 10 million $) with the critical acclaim and it's message, focus did a fine job with that, if only boy erased have walked the same road in term of numbers... but what really annoyed me the most how they handled TKOASD and destroyer, nevertheless i think about time and both movies will achieve a cult status, at least among us

That's reassuring! She'll probably return for The Undoing's press junkets. Wonder how long The Prom will shoot for.

If they're filming in Belfast, where Game of thrones was filmed, there could be a possibility that this is picked up by WB.
