Inspired by the 'Top 20 NK projects" thread. If you were to curate Kidman's career to a group of students at Julliard who have never heard of Kidman before, which scenes would you play them? Think of it as a showreel to showcase Kidman's work and versatility Here are my top 10 picks: 1. Diamonds - Moulin Rouge! youtu.be/a1REfTIc5po2. Train station - The Hours youtu.be/gaAOTI26JSQ3. The soliloquy - Eyes Wide Shut youtu.be/Wi2FdODygZo4. Any close-up monologue - To Die For youtu.be/DC88UajiTnM5. Therapy scene - Big Little Lies youtu.be/XRSW9O6oCOk6. Close-up at the Opera - Birth youtu.be/0JLlLsRwXOI7. Why does some have to die - The Hours youtu.be/5KQ2ZWDR_wA8. Lost in the fog - The Others youtu.be/zd0FCDiFapo9. Jonna gets fired - The Stepford Wies (can't find a clip, but this is Kidman's at her comedic best! Even though the movie's terrible) 10. Zazz - The Prom youtu.be/NWgYtYnL0bkHonorable mentions: Atlanna fight scene (Aquaman), Arrogance (Dogville), 'This house is ours' (The Others), Hindi Diamonds (Moulin Rouge!), car scene with Perry (Big Little Lies), meeting Hilary (The Paperboy)

I love the scene in AUSTRALIA where the kangaroos get shot.
And the scene in COLD MOUNTAIN where Nicole can't afford the pork.
The monologue in LION, watching Milo Teller take prom pics in RABBIT HOLE, the scene in TO DIE FOR (I think by the pool?) where Nicole talks about Barbara Walters and people "of the Jewish persuasion" and Mr. Gorbachev and the ugly purple thing on his forehead lol.
I looooove the scene in STRANGERLAND when she tries to seduce Hugo Weaving and he rejects her and she screams "WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME?!" That honestly might be my guilty pleasure Nicole performance I love it so much.

Wholeheartedly agree on the Train Station scene in "The Hours" - that scene elevated the movie to a whole new level.
zazzsquad - Great choices you've got there - shout out to the Job Firing scene in " The Stepford Wives" - Nicole at her comedic best. I was marveled !
Derrick - Me, too. I loved the Bank Robbing scene in " Destroyer". Definitely my favorite one in the whole movie (the audience could understand the entire robbery sequence only by looking at the reaction shots through her eyes).

Nic crying in the car in Rabbit Hole: my god!!!
And berating Tom Cruise and all men in Eyes wide shut while smoking a joint: epic!!!
Lying down next to the dead bird in The Hours (nice quiet moment)
I can't wait for life to tear you apart in Stoker
The finale in Moulin Rouge
The bookstore scene in Margot
The opera scene in Birth
Oh so many more

Amazing choices there! That BLL therapy scene is definitely the best. And then I'd forgotten about the bookstore scene and the 'he loves me' scene - those are definitely better than some of my choices.

Im going to try shifting away from the usual suspects and highlight some scenes that perhaps not mentioned enough,
1) Destroyer her diner confession scene to her daughter broke my heart and had me in tears, there is also this scene after she gets punched and she looks at herself in the bathroom mirror and the wraith like self loathing she emanates was bone chilling.
2) The hours the scene where she comes down the stairs and overhears the servants talking about her behind her back, always gets me.
3) The Paperboy, when Cusack is let go and he visits her and there is this look of sheer terror on her face but then it dawns on her that this is what she deserves from this life.
4) Hemmingway and Gellhorn, her footnote monologue, loved 3/4s of it.
5) Bangkok Hilton, her early smoking in the bedroom scenes, oozing with talent.
6) Practical magic hang on to your husbands girls
7) margot at the wedding child in the woods scene or bus stop finale.
8) Birthday girl, when her boyfriend ties her to the door knob and she is flushed with misery.
9) Stoker tear you apart mono
10) The golden compass, Mrs Coulter's entrance or her going to stop Lyra's daemon separation scene.
I could go on forever lol

For example Ruth Wilson has had alot more material to work with but she isn't as mesmerising as Kidman's Coulter, that's the whole point Mrs Coulter had a a subtle way of charming everybody in the room and drawing children to her like moths to a flame. Kidman managed to bring that in her 10 minutes of Screen time.

I agree. Her screen time in golden compass was not a problem at all. It also add mistery to her character. She was amazing in this.
