Happy anniversary to Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge! It first premiered at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival. What a film, what a year for Nicole Kidman and fans! This was actually the year I become a proper fan and Kidman my favourite. A whole new imperial phase for her. Acclaim and accolades already under her belt (To Die For) and already a big name with lots of successes. 2001 the year Kidman became a superstar, icon and legend. I could cheat with “Batman Forever” or even Practical Magic” but it was 2001 for me. I know for some of you. Batman was where it started. I can understand that, she still captivated me. So yes Moulin Rouge what a mind blowing film! 8 Oscar nominations, 2 wins. 12 BAFTA nominations, 3 wins. 6 Golden Globe nominations, 2 wins including one for Kidman! And 10 AACTA award nominations including 5 wins. And many more award nominations! I know we know this but it’s wonderful to look back on the impact and huge success Moulin Rouge had. The film is absolutely magical. Kidman and Ewan had that enchanting chemistry together. The art direction, sets, costumes, cinematography. Nicole’s sweet vocals. Again what a year for Kidman! I love this film so much. Nicole looked absolutely breathtaking. Does anyone have any special memories of this one? Or what you were doing? Or was it the perfect escapism for you? For me yes. I loathed school. With discovering Nicole properly in 2001, it was a great year for me for interests. In short, my favourite Nicole film forever and ever <3 PERFECTION. Excellent choice! It’s pretty high up for me 😊

Every artist/actor gets attach to one piece, like Da Vinci with Monalisa, Nicole Kidman and Baz Luhrmann will always be remember for "MOULIN ROUGE" no matter how many other jewels they will have on their coffers. I learn to admire Nicole Kidman when I saw her in Eyes Wide Shut, before that movie I disregarded her and saw her as the tall and skinny wife of Tom Cruise. I loved her in that movie. That she wasn't nominated that year is beyond me... As my curiosity grew I saw her in Portrait, To Die 4, Malice, and her early films and wonder if married to Cruise was a curse that needed to be lift... When I saw Romeo and Juliet I found the movie so inventive and visually stunning that my immediate desire was to pair Kidman and Luhrmann in a movie... both Aussies, both originals! When they made Moulin Rouge I got my wish!! What a masterpiece, Intoxicating and visually gorgeous movie!! Nicole should have win the Oscar that year not Berry! She was luminous, funny, dramatic, sings, dance and brought Hollywood Glamour like Dietrich, Hayworth, Monroe and the divas from that era. Nicole reached the peak of her beauty with this movie! Moulin Rouge is the rare movie that gets better with age! I just saw it yesterday and it is as mesmerizing now as twenty years ago!! I am a collector so I have "almost" all her movies and several editions of "M.R" specially the Red Curtain Trilogy. Love all the behind the scenes and deleted scenes... I was tremendously disappointed when Alexander the Great with Caprio, Kidman and Baz got archived, I can imagine that movie in my mind... Same dissapoinment happened the I saw "Australia" a disjointed, glossy movie that I still try to love but... A future collaboration with Luhrmann could be fantastic, dreamy, amazing, but for now I join the fans that celebrate M.R Twenty Anniversary!! Absolutely a masterpiece! And I strongly agree with Nicole being up there with the Golden Age classic superstars. This was her contribution to that! And her own lane. 20 years on = masterpiece.

Just came back form watching moulin rouge in the cinema, part of the Nicole Kidman's retrospective. So lucky to watch it on the big screen on it's 20th anniversary. What a beautiful timeless film and another brilliant performance form Nicole, she was funny, charming, sexy, breathtaking, stunning, she made us laugh so hard in the first part and the cinema was dead silent in her final scene.. her comedy skills are very impressive here. Everyone was so good and the film was just as good as I remember it, if not better. The cinema was a FULL house, on Wednesday 7pm cold night. We have said so much about this film, nothing for me to add, but I would say treat yourself and watch it again every now and then cause it's everything we said and more ❤️ Beautifully put! 👏🏻 How exciting to see this again on the big screen!

I definitely would have Kidman's one day ill fly away in the list. She sang it beautifully and with so much emotion. Still haunted by her " when dreaming ends..." Definitely 110 percent!

Yes do you think Hulu and amazon and her Anna Wintour connection can land her another cover as promo for 9PS. I assumed her magazine covers never used to sell well before, but she has gotten a more popular post BLL<, and its been a while since she's gotten a big shot cover with all the bells and whistles.

That’s a great idea. I’d like to think so. I mean with BLL and TU under her belt, they already have a title for the cover. Third time lucky? Tbh I’m surprised after the success of “The Undoing” a new cover didn’t happen. Still fingers crossed later this year Nicole graces yet another cover and breaks her own record!

Actually, I just realised - if she wins a second Oscar, she's guaranteed to be on the cover.
