I don’t know what a showrunner is, lol 🙃 meaning also directing?? The show runner is sort of the creative director of the series, he's almost always the writer, sometimes he directs, and he's always an executive producer. He eventually chooses the team of writers and contracts with the network. For example in Big Little Lies, David E. Kelly was the show runner and also writer but directed Vallée and Arnold. Here apparently Erskine will do everything.

Oooh it'll be so juicy if she's the nanny. But I find it difficult to reconcile her playing the part and a nice twist on expectations.

I finished the book btw. So tepid. Completely predictable. Very moderately intriguing narrative.
I won't cry if this one goes to the Amish farm to pass away peacefully.

It all depends on who helms the project and HBO have been producing winners after winners.

I just finished the book, a bit disappointed, very predictable, but the nanny's character is quite intriguing, I only wish there was more about her in the story. If this happens, it will be a very interesting project, but really relies on a VERY capable director. If she plays the Nanny which is the only logical choice, she needs to go all the way and it has to be set in Europe and it needs to be dark and sinister. Easily would be the most interesting character she plays on TV. I hope she does, but needs a strong direction. For some reason I kept picturing Tilda.

I would be happy if Tilda plays the nanny, she would kill it. But then there is no role for our lady, she can't play the mom.. it's a very physical role, walks a certain way, elegant, very discreet she is described as a very thin, fragile woman, blond with beautiful skin, yet surprisingly strong, with lots of make up and a deemed tragedy look on her face, hardly say a word when interacting with strangers. And yes agree with situ the title needs to be changed, specially if she going with the perfect couple.

It's still "in development" according to this profile of Maya Erskine in Marie Claire : www.marieclaire.com/celebrity/maya-erskine-interview-2024/"We should be able to produce and make the things we want to make and work with who we want," says Erskine, who is doing just that on the HBO series The Perfect Nanny (based on a novel of the same name) which is in development.
