I hope Dolan cast Nic in one of his films. I'd wait to see how his first English-spoken feature fares first. I used to like and enjoy his cinema a lot but he has kinda become a spoiled brat. Is his behaviors bad or something?

I have no idea what Xavier Dolan is about all I know about him is that he idolizes one of the K/cates not sure which one.
But it seems like this film will be getting more attention which is great!

I'm geting really exited with the idea of this film... also this cast just confirms that in terms of ideology of the plot, this will be, at least, acceptable.
Im really exited in fact!

In short, he's the Woody Allen of queer cinema. One film every year, awards, distinct voice, and eveyone wants to work with him. He's 26 or so has the likes of Cotillard, Bates and Chastain signing up. Mommy is probably his best although the last 20 minutes are a huge letdown. Tom at the Farm is his worst. He's got plenty to learn but his filmography is already impressive and unique.

His most seen work is the music video for Hello by Adele.

The cast is becoming bigger... linkI really despise Dolan's acting chops, truly, I find him awful on screen, but it'd fun to see him against Kidman. I am so excited for this!

I hope Dolan cast Nic in one of his films. YES! YES! I've only seen three of Dolan's films, but the acting is usually good to very good!

The chatter I read over different forums was that when his last Cannes film was almost panned (Juste la fin du monde, currently 45% at RT), he was very immature and annoying in interviews. It was probably the first time that his film got bad reviews to that extent. Quite a change from being the golden boy of Cannes at such a young age.

I just watched some of his interviews and they all looked like he either was always high or really arrogant. I haven't seen any of his works though, so I'm not judging.

He does sound like someone NK would like to work with though. They're both weird so I'm on board if that happens, and I hope it does.

And the female performances are always the most incredible parts of his films for me. He's a great actor's director. Also, I just finished reading Boy Erased. It was a very good book. Very sad, moving, and beautiful. And the character of the mother is the one in it the most after the lead boy. Nicole will have a lot to work with if they follow the book closely, which I imagine they will.

Omg thanks for sharing Brittany, please can you spoil the plot and tell me if the mother realizes the error of her ways and reconciles with him or does she cut him off?

Omg thanks for sharing Brittany, please can you spoil the plot and tell me if the mother realizes the error of her ways and reconciles with him or does she cut him off? Sure. Spoilers below! The father in the book is extremely against the son being gay, and doesn't really waver throughout, but the mother character is kind of in emotional conflict and turmoil throughout, because her and her son are and always have been very close. She wants him to go through with the conversion process and be able to be straight, but she is empathetic to him. She goes to therapy with him, she picks him up and they spend every weekend together... It's a very complex and interesting relationship. She's encouraging him to complete the program because she thinks it will make him better, and she's scared for him if he doesn't. On her side, it's out of compassion and love, and she really believes it's the right thing to do. But over the course of the book, she starts to realize how wrong she is, and how it's actually doing a lot more harm than good to be putting her son through this. She's a fascinating character, and I can't wait to see Nicole portray her.

Thanks Brittany!
