hey that is great for Greg Fraser, he has a good shot at that academy award. the cinematography in LIon does come off as understated in comparison to the other nominees but its subtle and elegantly crafted.

Lion is also close to outgrossing Carol, which had Blanchett, Mara and Haynes on its side.

UK Boxoffice update Lion actually went up to number 5 and fell a repectable 20% from last weekend, whilst its not doing as much as Australia, the UK market is heavily competitive with a huge number films all being released at the same time. So Lion holding on indicates word of mouth is strong. link

I expect great figures from Australia's final gross. It is surely outgrossing "Australia" and any Kidman movie there. Also, regarding UK box office, I have heard a lot of colleagues talking about this new movie "Lion" that you need to watch, so word of mouth is working here quite well too. Also, Kidman just snagged another nomination. This time from the ICS Award Nominees (International Cinephile Society), a very picky group. You will understand when you see all the nominees.
