I know that the scene between Kidman and carry on the couch was weirdly edited. I definitely think there was something weirder in the original film. He probably torchered her a bit.

Apparently Batman forever has a longer original cut before WB went Edwards scissors hands on it Poor Kidman all her films with WB always end up being interfered with the studio, Practical MAgic, Golden Compass, THe Invasion, Batman Forever, even Birth she went and she begged New Line execs to leave Glazer alone to do his work. I doubt this is true. Joel was always very clear that he wanted his Batman films to feel campy, like the 60s tv show was.

think this is just wishful thinking, epecially after snyder cut didnt do so well, despite warner spending more than 100 million to get it right. Batman Forever is more of a niche.

It wouldn’t kill them to officially just release it on physical media and digital platforms. Lessor works have had that treatment.
That is probably wishful thinking though.

I, for one, would be super into seeing the darker cut. I wonder what stage it exists in, if it's just minor post production, it's good press the Batman Brand and the DCEU. Even if it flops, it would be good press for the RPatt Batman. Not to mention, DC is touting itself as the dark adult company while Marvel is the kids one. There's a lot in it for them if they release it on HBO Max, and they don't have much to lose (depending on how it does, maybe even more merchandising).
I watched BF recently and loved it. It's insane and insipid but in such a fun way. Kidman is giving high camp, it's phenomenal. I would love to see what a darker version of it looks like. There were a few stills going around of Kidman getting stabbed with a large needle, but I can't seem to find them anymore.

Yep the darker cut would be very interesting to see. Although Batman Forever was much lighter, it wasn’t Batman and Robin was it? 😆 (Still loved Uma Thurman though! Thank god for her!)

I liked Batman Returns, and Batman was just ok. Forever was hilariously bad, and Batman and Robyn is probably one of the biggest fiascos of the 90s. More importantly, this Batman era is super outdated.

I don’t think that’s important as it’s just down to preference. Dated is quite a lazy criticism in my opinion. Of course some things are dated, being made some time ago. The franchise is still a loved franchise minus the last film, which still has its fans (up to them!). I just love Uma Thurman as Ivy. I only watch her scenes 😆

A film like Some Like it Hot never gets old because its key advantage is its sharp, timeless script. Whereas Batman & Robyn just feels like an exercise in machismo and pyrotechnics. But like you said, to each their own😊

I believe all the Batman films are very watchable even by todays standards (except for Batman & Robin) but there is a place for them all. I do not find them dated, in fact I find the lack of cgi appealing, modern tentpoles can become very mindnumbing with all the CGIs.
Maybe its nostalgia but batman forever, has many redeeming features a beauty prime Nicole Kidman, Jimmy Carrie's hilarious performance, beautiful intricate detailed costumes and some great fight/action sequences.

my rank is TDK & Returns, others, then........., B&R. I'm not a big fan of Nolan's BB & TDKR, but luv TDK. the first one with Nicholson is cute, but I rather watch Forever again with Kidman, Basinger was too loud. I agree with you Kaniska, I loved TDk but to a lesser extent BB and I hated TDKR, and I would argue it is these films that haven't aged well. As for the Burton verse, I loved the first two, returns more because of Michelle Pfeiffer. And I can still watch them today no issues, Forever will always be welcome and I have no qualms watching it, Batman & Robin I can't stomach largely because of how much I disliked George Clooney's performance.
