Well, after having had Mice unopened for many months, I started AND finished it within 24 hours! Loved it! My favourite Nicole book in recent memory.
It reads at the start as quite YA-ish, but then when it gets going it is anything but - gruesome and bloody! I desperately hope it won’t be a series, it’s much more suited to be a film, and as for Nicole’s chances of starring, she’d obviously be the mother, which is the 2nd lead character.
Def a read if you enjoy your books murderous!

Def a read if you enjoy your books murderous! Mice was by far, my favorite too. It's emotional and taut and sadly funny.I felt like I knew Shelly and Elizabeth. The narrative of the pathology of bullying, self-abuse, desperation, defeat and survival really struck me. It needs a British treatment though. A British director and a small English village locale and an excellent young English actor to play the lead.

Totally agree on all counts! And after IMDbing, just saw that Sarah Lambert (the Aussie screenwriter) is adapting this one - should be interesting...!

I've read Roar. It's a short story collection so I assume it would be an anthologized series. It felt a little shallow to me tbh...

I also have high hopes for The Expatriates. I liked most of the books she optioned — she has good taste. As does Reese. I hope they option more works together.

I don't think there was ever any news about optioning Mice but a few months ago she put up an Instagram story where she mentioned being excited about the books Blossom Films had optioned. Mice was one of the books.

Do we know what's happening with A Good Marriage? Enjoyed the book and seems up her alley (but she would definitely be in a supporting role).
