Given that we are starting to head to that 'special' time of year again, I thought I'd start a thread for the current awards season - any hype articles, predictions etc. involving our Nicole.
I'll get the ball rolling by gauging with you all which of these projects do you think will garner Nicole some statuettes?
- Big Little Lies S2 (Best Actress for TV Series (Drama))
- The Goldfinch (Best Supporting Actress)
- Bombshell (Best Supporting Actress)
- The Undoing (Best Actress for a Limited Series)
For me at this point, the TV Drama series category is looking choc-a-block, so I think a nomination for BLL2 should be a lock, but a much more difficult task to obtain the big prize this time.
Out of The Goldfinch and Bombshell, I'd be thrilled if both picked up awards steam, but at this point I think The Goldfinch would favour the Academies more (although, with the whole #MeToo stuff still going on, Bombshell could be a nice surprise).
And I'd LOVE for The Undoing to give Nicole the same level of success as BLL1 did, especially given she's not sharing the spotlight with any other actresses in it, but given that we haven't seen much at all from it, it's too hard to tell as this point.

BLL will get in The undoing will get GG, they love her and she will be better than any TV actress. No expectations for the films not yet at least. Let's see the reviews. But I'm super excited!

On IMDb she Won 1 Oscar. Another 96 wins & 199 nominations
She should get to over 100 wins and over 200 nominations this year 👏👏👏

If Goldfinch is really well received, she could be in contention for BSA, I think. Can't see liberal voters giving her much credit for playing Carlson if they make her a sympathetic character, in all honestly.

Golden Derby just count Nic (Bombshell) in, as a Best Actress award's "strong contender". the article is not from Tom O'neil, so I think is genuine, but.., they just do this every year. by the way, I think Cynthia Erivo (Harriet) will sweep it all the way, SAG, BAFTA, OSCAR.. and Focus may even get the best picture award finally, since Brokeback Mountain lost it. hope Awkwafina (The Farewell) or Alfre Woodard (Clemency) get in, make it more diverse. and her majesty Meryl Streep (The Laundromat) will have a seat automatically for sure.

Best supporting actress is so absolutely full to the brim guys. Only if The Goldfinch manages to gather steam like Lion did, would there be any chance. Really, not being a buzzkill. Like look at these contenders.
Laura Dern(Marriage Story), Margot Robbie (Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood), Shuzhen Zhao(The Farewell) Meryl Streep (The Laundromat, Annette Bening(The Report), Janelle Monaé (Harriet), Jennifer Hudson(Cats), Maggie Smith(Downton Abbey) etc.
Plus Anne Hathaway, the girls from Little Women, Octavia Spencer, Juliette Binoche, Ellen Burstyn, Penélope Cruz, Catherine Deneuve,Ruth Negga,Anna Paquin, Sharon Stone and so on...they all have supporting roles gaining momentum.
I'd be thrilled of course if Bombshell or The Goldfinch gather that kind of awards traction.

I've been checking Gretchen's Twitter every now and then to see if/when she'll respond to the teaser trailer. Funny how she did a 180 on Naomi Watts' portrayal and was all of a sudden glowing with praise for it (only because it made her out to be a saint!), but I don't think Bombshell will be going for the "I am without sin" thing, which will lead Gretchen to no doubt criticise Nic - I feel it's only a matter of when, not if... :/
