I haven't watched it in a long while, and recently gave it a spin on Netflix but its not as good as I remember it being, the film although shot beautifully doesn't really register with any of its objectives and watching it under the current climate it came across as patronizing if not racist.
Nicole although lovely her performance didnt have the usual spark she looked dead behind the eyes maybe that was in line with her character but it came across as very flat, I dont know I just remember it being better than I find it now!
Perhaps seeing how far she has come in her work, has caused me to reevelatute the film and her performance. So bottom line the film hasn't aged well in my eyes.

When I was a child a was obsessed about this movie. I watched so many times. I should re-watch that actually. I remember she was dangerously beautiful... And yes, her eyes... So matte and dead... An amazing performance.

When I watched it back in 2007-ish, I felt like it was very messy and poorly done.
Then, a few years ago, I gave it another try. It was just as bad as I thought 
Absolutely nothing about the movie is worth noting. 4.5/10 for me. |

I think it's decent but dull. however Nic is breathtakingly beautiful in it.

Interestingly, I am rather fond of The Interpreter.
I remember when it first came out, the headlines read "The Interpreter Translates Into Box Office Money" or something. Which was a breath of fresh air for a Kidman film.
I liked her chemistry with Sean Penn. I have South African friends and they told me she did a great job with the African accent.

I actually really enjoy it! It's nothing mind-blowing, but it does the job it's supposed to do in my opinion - entertain, give a few jumps, and thrill till you get that happy ending  And I attest to Nicole looking freaking gorgeous in it (as always!) |

I guess so for its time it did the job, but watching it recently I feel like it doesnt hold up as well. Although the inside look in the UN is noteworthy.
