Also, the Cubans are NOT going to be happy. You do NOT want a white Spaniard playing a Cuban. Man. This is all sorts of messy haha. BUT I WANT IT SO BAD NOW π

Incredible how Kidman is still hated, right? If this still was in Blanchette's hands I DOUBT that things would turn out like this. A lot of people saying Kidman is not a comedian and all. Debra Messing fans? Really? LOL

An avalanche of hate and negative comments on Twitter for Nicole's casting. If she wants to do it, she'll have to give her all to disprove those who didn't believe in her, and even when she does it great, she'll have a lot of contrary opinions. Perhaps it will be the most talked about role in her career. I hope the script is really good. Script will be great, I mean Sorking can do it. But him as a director hmmmmmmm not sure about that. Let's hope for the best. I still want Kidman doing this.

We don't even know how much of a comedy background you need for this script. All it says is, it's about a crisis they hit. So discrediting an amazing, dedicated actress - who by the way will bring her absolute 100% to the role - just because she doesn't hav a lot of goofy-silly-funny roles in her filmography, is just silly. It's just Twitter discourse hopefully. I hope it's a meaty, zingy role. Can't wait for more details. What a surprise!

Comments about this on socials are the same everywhere:
- She has no expression. So much botox.
- She is not funny.
- She just did Bewitched, why another TV show remake?
- She is too tall for the role.(LOL)
I'm a little scared. A part of me want her in a more comfort role (like Paris Memories), the other part of me want her to take this risk.

Is she capable of pulling this off? Absolutely. And as many have noted, playing against type often brings out the very, very best in her (I'm looking at you, Destroyer). In fact, this is probably one of her most exciting projects in years - if indeed she does it.
However, glancing through the shit-storm of hate that's being generated online in response to her casting, I'm wondering whether it's all worth it. If she delivers anything less than 110%. they'll be lined up with pitchforks and torches, circa her career around Grave of Monaco. It's taken her all these years to garner and win-back the respect and accolades that are her due, and I kind of don't want to have to witness character/career assassination 2.0...

Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball had a rather tumultuous relationship. He was an alcoholic and she was paranoid he was cheating on her. So I'm pretty sure this is not going to be a haha funny project.

What is the point: to make Lucille's hyper caricatured expressions? Does that serve to convince them? No retouching for six months then, and work in the mirror, anyone can do it. But if one has to portray the imbalance and torment of a character trapped in an unhappy marriage, then who better than Nicole?

I expected a worse reaction to this here, I'm a bit surprised! I'm on the intrigued side, this could be a Grace of Monaco-level shit show, and I far prefer Sorkin as a writer than as a director, obviously (the thought of having to watch TTOTC7 at some point still scares me) BUT if she pulls it off... it could also be a great thing. IDK, she's had some safer film roles lately, so I like the risk-taking, whatever the end resut. As some of you say, sometimes this kind of outseide the box casting can yield great results.
I also disagree with the whole "Nicole Kidman isn't funny" angle, it's just not true and based on her not doing a lot of comedy and her perceived public persona. Nevertheless, I don't actually think this will be that comedic if it's based on a week of marriage and career crisis. Sorkin is also not Olivier Dahan, he's generally better regarded and will be hot of an Oscar bait splash, so this is a high-profile project, which we haven't had in a while. I do hope it doesn't interfere with Winocour's film, tho. If she could film both roles this year, that would be two leads in a role, I'd dig that!
NOW..................... WHY BARDEM AS A LATINO AKSDFJAKSDJF As a Spaniard, this is NOT what we mean by Spanish representation! Oscar Isaac, pick up the phone NOW, girl. Everyone focusing on Nicole and he's right there stealing a role, smh. Tbh, I don't like him since he voiced his support for Woody Allen, either, but well, it's clear Nicole's role will be the one that will attract all the attention.
Interesting, interesting.

Also that she is to tall for the role. Let's be clear. Nicole has NOTHING to do with Lucille bell. Nothing! This is the craziest casting ever. Will she fail? Probably yes. Do I want she does that? No... But I have to say, I haven't feel so alive and adrenaline since Grace of Monaco news came out π, so I'm totally in. If she wants to survive to this, and maybe win a second Oscar, she must to accept a huge make up prosthetic works on her. There is nothing on her face who remember Lucille Ball. NOTHING π
