couldn't be more excited about this movie but also definitely scared, it's kidman so we never know 😁 when we are talking about someone who has big hits and great movies like to die for, eyes wide shut, moulin rouge, the others, the hours, cold mountain, rabbit hole, lion, big little lies...and on the other hand, queen of the desert, grace of Monaco, trespass, genius. it's almost impossible to guess specially when you have the controversial classic performances of birth, paperboy and destroyer (just imagine if those movies had a slightly better script...).

I dont think its appropriate that a bunxh of loudmouth jealous bullyimg hags on twitter can dictate what Kidman can and cannot do. Trash such as they should be in the dustbin where they belong.

It's odd - my initial reaction to this news was a largely negative one, as in "no good can come of this."
However, with a little time for reflection, I'm coming around the the idea of "screw these arseholes! If you really think Debra effing Messing is a bigger talent and B.O. draw than one of the most lauded actresses of her generation, then you're smoking crack." She absolutely should do it and screw them in the ear!

Honestly, same. At first this seemed like a disaster but I've really come around to it. As long as Sorkin writes something INTERESTING and doesn't dwell on the well tread bipoic route, this could be an interesting project.

I don't think is the right project for Nicole, Hope that Paris Memories is green lighted and is her next project! Is too risky... Her last couple of projects have been well received so she should avoid having another "Bewichted' or "Stepford Wives" moment. She is brilliant but there must be a reason why even Blanchett left this project, Kidman and Barden are definitely miscast!

She is brilliant but there must be a reason why even Blanchett left this project, Kidman and Barden are definitely miscast! The fact is risky is what I miss most of her recent projects. I know is a crazy ride, and she would probably fail at 99% but...being chosen by one of the greatest screenwriter for a character like this one does not happen everyday. The script is in development from 6 years. It's should be perfect. I think both Blanchett and Isac dropped out becouse they both received a last minute call and the have a conflict with their project. Isac will be in another movie in sping/summer, Blanchett would never give a forfeit to Almodovar. This is why I think they could filming in the nexts months. Blanchett kept repeating during these years how much she loved this project, the script was wonderful and she was dying to play her. It's since 2015 she is attached to it, maybe when the script was still unwritten. It was the spearhead of her upcoming movies. She have to be replaced for a clinflict with her schedule, there is no other explanation. Nicole saw Danish Girl flew aways from her hands years ago, this time it happened to Blanchett...

hear hear, luv the girl who takes risks. Not sure if we should consider that choice as "risk". For me it's more miscalculated choice based on prestige of the project/role itself. Wrongly put intensions who can do more harm than give prestige. I will try to explain that later. Working with enfant terrible like Lars von Trier in her prime was "risk". Playing Grace Kelly/Gertrude Bell was simply stupid and pure vain:)

We'll only have to wait and see, also don't forget the quality of Sorkin's filmography...this project can really be good, as for ''not the right one for Nicole'' you will have to excuse me but the right means super risky with a memorable performance and a meh script? we already have enough of this... its her talent that can make a nuanced and suitable performance.

She plays a goofy and puffy comedian. It will never happen to her again...and if she fails... Well... We will survive as always. Lol What I'd give to have at the moment, is a statement from her saying "yes, I'm in the movie and I'm training myself day and night for this..."

No one doubts her talents:) Especially neither of us. It simply not about that. She's simply not right for the part. She will probably give her "all" but still I think it won't be worth it. It's like Nicole playing a janitor in The Human Stain. Prestigous project, reunion with let's say dependable/occasionally very good director, adaptation of great/awarded novel, great role, big emotional scenes, voice/walk changed - all the right ingredients. Still, she was simply not believable. Audience didn't "buy" her as an janitor with the past. I love this performance but she was simply misguided. Where there is no essence and You simply feel false elements from the nature of the project even the best performance won't be satisfying. Nicole will probably work on voice/look ect. but she won't change her attitude. Ball had that commanding/dominant/charismatic persona with her attitude/voice/eyes ect. Cate Blanchett gives almost the same impressions. Just like Tilda Swinton. Vanessa Kirby also have that. Nicole is different. She's much more mysterious, etheral, strenght mixed with fragility. That's way I am perfectly fine with seeing her as a Vivian Leigh. But sadly not Lucille Ball. It's a prestigous project - I agree but I don't think it's right for her. She needs project and a role which will depend or her natural beauty/talent/expresiveness. She "lives" and "breathes" with characters like Becca in Rabbit Hole and Celeste in BLL. All these "big" women roles sadly not. Not sure why she's again following route that's not good for her and brought her more problems than successes. I think Nicole given ANOTHER chance to have succesful career is starting to ruin it again. That's too dramatic description:) I know but I can see her bad habits coming back once she feels more comfortable with her career - Wrong choices since 2004/wrong choice with Grace and Queen of the Dessert after Rabbit Hole. First The Undoing and questionable appearance. And please don't "she's too succesful right now and that's why there are coming for her" me. It's not like that. People know exactly how great actress who have nothing to prove so why she's again raising those doubts about her face. She keeps talking about how great it is to be 50 but Girl, You look nothing like 50 year old woman:) I am very happy for commercial appeal The Undoing had but still Nicole "young" look is still questionable especially when You can see every line on her film partner face. Quite disctracting. Second act of sabotage:) - too big project and role for her with Lucille Ball. Call me crazy or prove me wrong but I can clearly see some disturbing reminiscences from the past.

No doubt about that. Sorkin is dependable but when it comes to writing female characters... Molly's game and understanding of the main character? Quite straight-forward, even coarse...

Without "nice dresses" prospect of it sounds even more scary:) Yeah, she will. probably. But does she needs another "comeback"/being great again and again? Maybe more balance (which I think she found in recent 3-4 years) and less success/total fail?
