Hi all,
I thought we should have a thread about books. I'm mega sorry if there already is one! Do let me know and I'll delete this.
it doesn't need to be NK related, although it would be great to get all the updates here, thoughts on upcoming adaptations, and personal tastes when it comes to Kidman's involvement in these projects! Fantastic if someone could get a hold of that Lucile Ball script and post it here...
For a start, I wanted to ask you, what are your favourite 5 Kidman projects based on books?
I would say Big Little Lies, The Hours, Eyes Wide Shut (it's based on a short story), Lion and The Undoing are my favourites.
If I had to think of more, then definitely Paddington, Rabbit Hole, Cold Mountain, The Family Fang and The Paperboy.
It's actually amazing how much of her best work is based on novels or short stories!
Which ones are your favourites? And what is everyone reading right now? I just started Patricia Highsmith's The Blunderer, felt like reading a mystery.

My top 5 from the ones I've seen: Big Little Lies, Stoker, To Die For, Paddington, Lion! But she's done so many, it's very hard to choose. Here's a handy list of all the projects she's done based on books boxd.it/akopAI'm currently reading Daisy Jones and the Six. The main character peculiarly looks like Nicole.

Stoker was an original script written by the actor Wentworth Miller.
It was inspired by Hitchcocks shadow of a doubt.

Lol, I was very liberal with the meaning of "books". Stoker is an adaptation of Hamlet so it's technically a book to me djdsskjksj

Interesting thought, although I don't see the connection. Would you mind elucidating? The bare bones summary of both plots is: Teenager's father dies and their uncle (who they've never met before) shows up. Teenager misses their father a lot and they are depressed/emo. Teenager eventually uncovers the fact that their uncle has killed their father. Teenager's mother and uncle are having a romance. A supporting cast of characters (spies, love interests, etc) also die. Teenager eventually avenges father by killing uncle. Obviously they end in different ways and Stoker is much less political than Hamlet, but I think there's enough similarities for it be based off of the work (or at least inspired by it).
