Here the full plot: Shelley and her mom have been menaced long enough. Excused from high school where a trio of bullies nearly killed her, and still reeling from her parents' humiliating divorce, Shelley has retreated with her mother to the quiet of Honeysuckle Cottage in the countryside. Thinking their troubles are over, they revel in their cozy, secure life of gardening and books, hot chocolate and Brahms by the fire. But on the eve of Shelley's sixteenth birthday, an unwelcome guest disturbs their peace and something inside Shelley snaps. What happens next will shatter all their certainties-about their safety, their moral convictions, the limits of what they are willing to accept, and what they're capable of.
Debut novelist Gordon Reece has written a taut tale of gripping suspense, packed with action both comic and terrifying. Shelley is a spellbinding narrator, and her delectable mix of wit, irony, and innocence transforms the major current issue of bullying into an edge- of-your-seat story of fear, violence, family loyalty, and the outer reaches of right and wrong.

We assume that Nicole will play the mother, even if in the articles so far only talk about her as a producer. I also wonder if it will end up being an Amazon movie. For the role of her daughter, who is the real protagonist, she would need a really young actress. But if they wanted to be less faithful to age, I'd love Anya Taylor-Joy, for a The Northman reunion. I think she has the right characteristics for the character.

I really hope Kidman plays the mum's role. It's not the protagonist but still a strong supporting role. I think Millie Bobby Brown could be good.
The role of the blackmailing intruder/antagonist is fantastic too. May be Timothy Spall?

Nicole producer only please and a new actress playing the daughter. If Nicole is to star in a film I rather see her lead, she has enough supporting roles out there ...

I think a new face would be good. Miles Teller, despite being a dick, was fantastic in Rabbit Hole. All of the kids in BLL were good. She has a knack for seeing young talent.

I hope it's not like Moore's Carrie remake, that one was awful with the actingtalentless girl. It actually has similarities, however it is a very psychological drama, on the strings of Hitchcock. The girl was scarred in the face by her classmates, and her trauma leads her to isolate herself with her mother, she in turn is hurt by the separation from her husband. The stranger who arrives at their door one day will test them and lead them to react and not suffer.

Of Kidman stars in this it will be colead, they could easily make the script focus on both of them.
I love the Anya Taylor Joy recommendation.

I think, like The Female Persuasion, the character is quite obviously meant for her.

I think, like The Female Persuasion, the character is quite obviously meant for her. So true. When I was reading the book, imagining her in the mum's role was so easy. Timid, mousy, loving but ultimately resilient and almost... vindictive. If it's written that way, it's absolutely a co-lead. Are any of you familiar with Harriet Warner's work? Haven't seen Tell Me Your Secrets or her reimagining of Dangerous Liaisons.

if they're filming in Oz then it is very likely they'll get an aussie actor to fill in the role?

She has a knack for seeing young talent. he is so talented. and he is, but Damien Chazelle is a even bigger one. I mean Chazelle lied about the whole La La Land casting drama, just like right now he throws Stone under the bus, goes for Robbie. this is exactly what happened with Gosling replaced Teller, for the director, the hotter the better, and "the friendship" is just a joke!! and Teller became a true d**k after that, I don't wanna make excuses for him, yet there must be some kind of PTSD to the guy. For a moment I misread it as Damien Chazelle has a bigger dick and I was like "wow, good for him" but at the same time "wait how does kaniska know that I WANT TEA"
