I think this is an old project. Some Kidmaniacs have read the source if I remember correctly.

The only thing I find interesting about this is that it's a film rather than a movie. The plot is meh to me. I'm gonna read the book and see how it is.

http://instagram.com/p/CMSaugfpSuL Oh yes! This is so exciting! Of all her recently acquired books, Mice was by far, my favorite. I know Curdey liked it too. It's emotional and taut and sadly funny. The mother-daughter dynamic is fascinating. I felt like I knew Shelly and Elizabeth. The narrative of the pathology of bullying, self-abuse, desperation, defeat and finally survival really struck me. It's not a literary masterpiece but an insightful, simple YA story. It needs a British treatment though. A British director and a small English village locale and an excellent, excellent young English actor to play the lead. Kidman will be so perfect for the mum's role, btw. The comment on the instagram post suggests Kidman is only attached as a producer - for now.

I was hoping she would eventually start producing films again, so that's what's most interesting to me about this project. I might read the book, too. If it's good, hope she stars in it.

I remember this project from a while back, the plot sounds very interesting and it could be a very nice claustrophobic pysologucal thriller, this was one of the projects that she had picked which I was looking forward to see progress on.
I ordered the book and it had arrived recently so still haven't gotten to reading it but if I'm not mistaken its about a mother and daughter who have extreme paranoia/ post traumatic shock from a past history of an abusive husband/father, they end up living in an isolated cottage where they think they are safe till they get invaded by somebody and all of sudden they find themselves in a fight for survival.
I really hoped it would have some sort of "the others" meets "panic room" theme going for it, Kidman will have to play the lead mother role fingers crossed, the director should have the the capability of building tension, claustrophobia and horror, also be able to be stylish, can she work Park chan wook again.

Well, if Fincher really is comitted to working more and wants to go full circle...

She definitely will film this in Australia, as everything is already set for her over there and she can even film it on her own farm property lol! The director is somebody who will make or break this project, but as we discussed before Australia is rife with promising female directors.

If she is doing more films, i wish she avoids thrillers until there is a really solid project, i know she loves a phycological thriller, but none of her work after the Others delivered.. I would love her to do a comedy drama or just a small indie drama film.. I wanna see something like Margot again, God loved that film.

SO glad it's a film and not a series! Happy for her either just to produce or if she chooses to play the mum I'd be fine with that too
