As I promised, here a list of some interesting project Nicole was rumoured to star. Some of these are only rumors without a solid source, others are projects never gone in production.
Verified projects:
The Rivals (2008 circa)
History of the rivalry of the late 19th century between the two first women of European theater: Sarah Bernardth and Eleonora Duse. The film would be produced by Steven Spielberg with Amblin, would have Nicole as Bernardth and Marion Cotillard as Duse.
Alone (aka Spectre, 2008-2011)
It is a horror movie that was initially directed by Bryan Bertino, then James Wan took over the reins. It was the remake of a Spanish film dating back to 2006, entitled "Al final del espectro" directed by Juan Felipe Orozco. The film would have told the story of Vega (played by Nicole) who, due to her trauma, becomes agoraphobic, on the advice of her father, decides to live in her apartment as a hermit. The constant visions, the obsession with a bizarre neighbor and a dark forgotten past will take the story into a claustrophobic spiral of tension. Nicole was attached to produce this too.
The Eight Wonder (2007)
A female version of Indiana Jones travels the world in search of a huge archaeological mystery. Nicole would star in the film and produce it alongside Fox.
Washington (2005 circa)
The third movie by Lars Von Trier about the USA. Sequel of Manderlay.
Need (2007 circa)
Nicole would be directed by Ryan Murphy in this Fatal Attraction-style thriller, where she would play a psychologist whose patient develops a morbid attraction. In the role of the patient we would see Naomi Watts.
The God of Driving: How I Overcame Fear and Put Myself in the Driver's Seat with the Help of a Good and Mysterious Man (2006 circa)
Nicole would star in this adaptation of the Amy Fine Collins novel. Giuseppe Tornatore strongly wanted Nicole in the cast of the film that was never made: The screenplay of the film was about the 900 days of the Nazi assault on Leningrad. The story of a cellist and her children during the siege of the city of Peter the Great by the Germans in the Second World War.
My Wild Life (2011)
Nicole was linked to the biopic project that would be directed by Philip Noyce, a sweeping drama about Dame Daphne Sheldrick, a Kenyan wildlife conservationist renowned for her work with elephants. Denzel Washington was also rumored to star.
News of the World (2012)
Nicole herself had declared in an interview that she was linked to the project that she would see her play Rebekah Brooks, on the wiretapping scandal involving the giant Rupert Murdoch.
True Spirit (2013)
Nicole had scored to play the mother of the protagonist of this biopic about the life of Jess Watson. 16-year-old Jessica Watson sailed her 33-foot boat triumphantly back to land. She had done it. She was the youngest person to sail solo, unassisted, and nonstop around the world.

At one point a news story had caused a stir all over the world. A group of mothers from Byron Bay fought bullying in a slum by taking inspiration from Ghandi's non-violence. Nicole, Cate Blanchett and Meryl Streep were indicated as the protagonists.
Untitled project on James Tiptree Jr. (2009)
A rumor later denied, gave Nicole as the protagonist of the biopic on the life of James Tiptree Jr. whose real name was Alice Bradley Sheldon. From 1967 until well into the 70s she published popular works of science fiction under the Tiptree pseudonym, even interacting with well known male science fiction writers such as Philip K. Dick and Harlan Ellison with no one the wiser. The world at large simply assumed that she was indeed, a man.
Queen & Country (2009)
Nicole was rumored to be the protagonist of the new 20th century fox film, "Queen & Country", the story of a woman, a special agent, on the run after committing a murder in Eastern Europe. The film would be a transcript of a Greg Rucka comic. The script for the film was entrusted to Ryan Condal.
Lady from Shanghai (2004)
Nicole would play the role of Rita Hayworth in a remake of the Welles classic, directed by Wong Kar-wai.
The Pages (2009 circa)
She was also indicated for a role in the adaptation of this novel by Bail. On a family sheep station in the interior of Australia, a brother and sister work the property while their reclusive brother Wesley Antill, spends years toiling away in one of the sheds, writing a philosophy. Now he has died.
Erica, a philosopher, is sent from Sydney to appraise his work by him. Accompanying her is Sophie who needs a distraction from a string of failed relationships. Her field di lei is psychoanalysis. These two women, each with a different view of the world, meet a situation they have not experienced before - with surprising results.
Zsa Zsa Gabor biopic (2011)
Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor was eyeing Nicole Kidman to portray her in a biopic, according to her husband Prince Frederic Von Anhalt.

Nicole and Russell Crowe were rumored in this film about police officer Joe O'Brien, a good cop from the Irish Catholic neighborhood of Charlestown, Massachusetts. A devoted husband and proud father of four grown children, Joe begins experiencing dramatic mood swings, bouts of disorganized thinking and strange, involuntary movements.
Schapelle Corby biopic (2017)
The elusive film would have told the story of Schapelle Corby, a woman arrested in Indonesia for possessing drugs and sentenced in 2005 to 20 years in prison.
