The Hours is the best movie about unhappiness and the most heartbreaking movie about life I ever seen. Kidman Virginia Woolf is just perfection. As the rest of the cast, music, direction and everything. Virginia Woolf herself would have loved that movie so much. The essence of all her literature. How it lost BP and Score is something I will never understand. My feelings exactly!

That rolling stone ranking is an abomination. Julianne Moore has dons better work than Still Alice yet she is number 1 huh?

they're fucking idiots. The Hours and La Vie en Rose (the performance by Kidman and Cotillard I mean) are clearly the best of this century. nothing more. Um, the rolling stone should stick to music reviews! If i blindfolded myself now and handpicked these performances one by one, i swear that my list would make more sense!!! Nicole should be in the top 5 or at least top 10, alongside Theron in Monster, Mirren in the Queen and Cottilard in La Vie En Rose

Yeah Rolling Stone really should stick to music reviews. I don’t see that as a single attack on Kidman, they’re clearly going for a few ladies in that garbage article. Nicole’s Virginia Woolf is acclaimed is known for its widespread acclaim. So honestly 🖕 them!
Award season, BTR, I have a good feeling about. Will the Oscar happen? I hope so but I do always take comfort in Nicole being a winner and multiple nominee. Some of her work is too bold for the academy and just a few were overlooked. But got praise elsewhere.
“The Northman” I think this will be a cinematography and possibly score contender and acting nods at festivals and indie awards. Alexander might get further. He’s on fire these last few years so I hope for all the best for him. With Nicole I’m just hoping for a very memorable performance. not everything is about award validation for me with her projects. It’s not the end of the world for me if NPS doesn’t get anything major (I wish for the best of course, but Nicole’s been on a winning streak with her TV projects a lot(. Having wrote that I do think it’s time to add another Oscar nomination on her filmography. The Golden Globes are huge supporters so I’m sure Nicole will get recognition again from them.
So what are some other fans hopes? For me another Oscar nomination would be wonderful (sometimes I think we forget she won and is a multiple nominee!) As I wrote above I’m sure the GG will there for Kidman. My other hopes are first and foremost to like/love/appreciate the next project and if award recognition is relevant great that’s wonderful but I am more than happy to just like the project. Bedsides some award nominated projects nowadays I’ve not been a huge fan of. Some great, some not my cup of tea. Ultimately I would love another Oscar nomination for Nicole and potential win, but also that just appreciate a performance is fine by me.
And also some more daring projects. TV is where a lot of well written characters are nowadays. So looking at a lot of what’s to come, that’s where Nicole’s eyes fall. I’d also love some more out there films, even of they don’t all resonate with all audiences, that’s sometimes where the best work lies, in the middle. I would love a couple of commercial projects. I think what Kidman excels at is giving us a mix!

And also who cares what Rolling Stone write when the New York Times rank Nicole 5th on its list of the greatest actors of the 21st century at present? That writers “opinion” isn’t worth a second thought.

I loved Holy Motors and this has me IN already. Very strong trailer. Marion Cotillard has been so close to her Acting Award at Cannes. Hopefully this year she gets it.

What an incredible project that was. Time only shows that. After these big but not really succesful movies like Australia and Nine, awful press, failed chances... Rabbit Hole was truly a breath of a fresh air. Truly special. Not sure why she's not trying to do something similar right now. Back in 2010 it must have been even harder to develop such project. I absolutely love this movie and performance. Would love to see Nicole like that again. Natural, almost no make-up, no wigs, raw in almost one-woman show.

Oh:) I am also big fan of Holy Motors and Les Amants du Pont-Neuf is one of my all time favourite movies. Marion is really putting her career back on track. Great projects are coming with Carax, Corbert, Desplechin. Love her. She's truly unique.

Golden Palm for Cotillard is like the Oscar for Glenn Close. Lol.

As a decade-plus-long Cotillard fan, the Cannes Best Actress award is like the Holy Grail. May Annette bring it, please.
