Except that is not true. Every film is different. Some directors prefer calculated work, while others prefer spontaneous work. As Nicole always says, you just gotta know how to adapt. Exactly this. One of the reasons directors love Nicole so much is because of her adaptability. On one hand, you may end up working with a David Fincher who wants 30 takes of a scene before he's happy. Other times, you'll end up working with a Clint Eastwood, who does 3 takes and makes sure everyone is off set by 4pm. I totally agree that the reason Nicole is so popular is because she's adaptable. But what I was responding to was a comment that it was Nicole, not the director, who didn't want to rehearse. I'm not attacking Nicole, I'm just saying that not rehearsing can be risky.

Will there be LA or NY premiere event before 25th of December? I hope so this film deserves a good premiere, Kusama should push for a premiere in LA since this movie is a love letter to LA, "the arclight hollywood" I think would be ideal.

Reviews like that make me so hopeful of her chances still cos it’ll be a pretty glaring omission otherwise. I can’t wait to see this regardless.

Interview with Kusama: I brought up my love of Nicole Kidman (my favorite movie has been Moulin Rouge! since I was 10), and Kusama and I talked about the star’s career and her change from being the young ingenue character to this tour-de-force actress who doesn’t care about the vanity of a role: “I think she’s actually in a completely potent period right now, where the work she’s doing is so adventurous and strange and particular to her. She never takes a role out of a sense of strategy or, she’s completely guided by her own drumbeat and I really respect that in her.” www.themarysue.com/interview-destroyer-director-karyn-kusama-discusses-the-complex-movie/

Finally it gets an Australian Release date ... March 21 though!! REALLY?! www.if.com.au/madman-snags-nicole-kidman-crime-thriller-destroyer/“It’s a great piece of filmmaking with a remarkable performance by Nicole,” says Madman’s Paul Wiegard, who will launch the thriller on March 21, preceded by screenings at the St George Open Air Cinema in Sydney starting on January 28. The $US10 million-budgeted film has been hailed as a likely Oscars contender since the world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Madman has arranged screenings for Australian members of the Academy.

What is this film?! I need to see it!!! But far more than hair and makeup magic, what’s most impressive is the extent to which Kidman uses her own body. Her gait, usually so graceful, is utterly transformed as she bow-leggedly clomps down hard on the ground; her shoulders are slumped, the picture of someone who’s been wounded and can’t bear to go through that again; and her speech is raspy and brusque — when it’s not slurred from drink. Her performance, nominated for a Golden Globe, is a beacon in a film that tends to gets lost in its own convoluted plot. It makes Destroyer not just worth seeing, but worth revisiting, over and over again. Kidman’s face as Erin gives in to the most impersonal hand job in cinematic history has special resonance
