This is very bad for her career. She should retire in shame!

I know as Kidman fans we've certainly had our few ups and a lot of downs in terms of box office over the years. I know we all want her films, especially the dynamic and brave ones like Destroyer to do well, but it isn't the end of the world. It's a challenging and interesting film that she's added to her resume, and for that we can be grateful. Well, I can be at least.

This is very bad for her career. You can't be serious. As people have said, it's not that bad. In her time, she's had many films that didn't find a big audience initially and has stayed A-list for 30 years. Nicole is bulletproof. She gets work because of her talent and prestige. And because of the publicity her involvement in a project generates. If it makes money....great. But if it doesn't, she'll still be in demand for other projects.

I hate that term but I guess Destroyer is what they call a 'prestige project' and it really isn't meant to be a moneymaker. If it does end up generating some business, great. If not, oh well.
No fireworks but again, it's just one day and things are yet to unfold. I am just waiting with bated breath to watch it. Really hope it gets somewhat of a wider release.

Hi guys I saw the movie today in NYC. The grimy detective noir isn't really my thing but I went for Nicole and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Its very confidently directed by Kusama who knows exactly what she is doing and what she is aiming for and avoided most of the cliches associated with the genre. She made it her own. It has an amazing score that added a lot to everything and it's also very well edited going seamlessly between past and present. The cinematography was great, there are a lot of cutaway shots of skateboarders that I found interesting. Which of course brings me to Nicole. At first I found the coarse wig and make up a bit distracting but I quickly adapted to that and how she walks and her deep raspy vocal delivery. But the thing that stood out for me the most was the haunted eyes. Her eyes conveyed so much. They looked totally soul destroyed and exhausted. You can't fake that kind of thing. To me thats a total immersion in the character and the world she lives in. She's a very difficult character to like but in Nicole's hands she makes you understand why she is the way she is. She brings depth and empathy to a very damaged and tormented woman and you cant help but root for her, even when she is kicking ass and having her own ass kicked. Its a lot of fun seeing Nicole being so physical in those scenes. There is a really beautiful subplot with her daughter that the film keeps circling back to. Even though Erin is a bad mother she is also a good mother who is very concerned for her daughter's wellbeing. Along the way there were a few really intense scenes that really kept you unsettled, one at the beginning involving the gang members playing Russian roulette comes to mind. Much has been said about the ending of the film being an attempt at lyricism and that it comes off as pretentious. But I loved it and found it to be poignant and even beautiful, like the character finally gets the resolution she has been craving for so so long. In conclusion I think this a major accomplishment for Nicole. Its one of her most complex and complicated performances. I think she is in every scene and has given her whole heart and soul to it. I would give her the nomination in a second and Im not just saying that because I'm a fan but because I believe she totally deserves it.

Hope I get to see it soon. Hope Kidman continues to push for this film, I have a good feeling that if she gets this film seen she will get rewarded.
