This is very exciting! Sounds like a nuanced girl-gang, we-take-things-in-our-own-hands. I was curious why it's being called Fair and Balanced. Apparently that used to be their motto until this whole episode transpired in part because of its close association with Roger Ailes. (Theron will also produce so I wonder if her role would be nice and juicy.) Please don't hate me. My favorite Jay Roach projects are the Austin Powers movies.

But Megyn Kelly wasn't that prominent in the real story!.. The reason why I thought her character was lead was because Charlize Theron was attached to this project first, way before today. ...and Charlize is one of the producers in this movie. So, I think we'll see both of them having substantial roles as co-leads (Nicole, because she's playing the main mover of the Ailes downfall). I'm excited for this movie!!! Real high-profile topic with A-list stars.

Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, but I really think this could be an awards-winning role for her (and possibly a commercial success). Especially if she gets a supporting campaign like everyone in Spotlight. Gretchen was the first one who spoke out & a driving force in this whole scandal. She was unfairly treated by her co-workers after the lawsuit but so determined to fight back, so there should be some showy & emotional scenes as well.

Charlize's role could be controversial though depending on how she's gonna be portrayed, since Megyn Kelly is one of the most hated person.

Finally we know what she's working on this fall ! Off topic and random, but before the announcement of Fair & Balanced, I was c-e-r-t-a-i-n  she would sign up for the screen adaptation of CATS. It would set her up with Tom Hooper, who's taken over two projects she previously was involved with - The Danish Girl (that Theron also once was attached to, next to Kidman) and now His Dark Materials, that he's directing for BBC. Anyway, this project is much better  I’m relieved that she’s not in CATS, and I agree that this is a much better prospect. This came out of nowhere and I’m actually pleasantly surprised she’s seriously considered for this. I cannot keep up with the projects she has and that truly can only be a good thing.

No disrespect to Charlize Theron, who is a fine actress, but I feel like barely anyone even knew about this film existing (or cared about it) when she was the only star attached. Now thanks to Kidman (and Robbie, but I think even Nicole alone would have been enough) this film is suddenly a major player with a massive profile.

Charlize's role could be controversial though depending on how she's gonna be portrayed, since Megyn Kelly is one of the most hated person. It could portray Megyn as the conflicted character of whether to support Gretchen or keep quiet since she was worried about her job. So Megyn could be portrayed as a sympathetic character who was on the wrong side at first (by not speaking up but thinking of the job that she worked hard for to attain) or at least a character that will be between being loved and hated. So, it still could be a juicy role as long as they make it multi-faceted and not one-dimensional. I think Nicole's role will be more emotional in that we'll see early on that she's fighting against Ailes and the harassment. I think Megyn's will-she-or-won't-she-join the fight will be one of the conflicts in the movie. Margo's could be one of the unifying character that helps resolve the conflict in the end.

I definitely paid more attention when I heard Nicole is going to be in it I do think though that it's the combination of Charlize-Nicole-Margot in it (plus the topical story) that made this extra exciting news to me and to Hollywood and film fans everywhere. Because we're getting 3 superstars and great actresses in one movie that's very timely.

Well Theron is one of the rare actresses (along with Nicole, Tilda and Cate) who is quite happy to play quite an antagonistic character and not try to make it sympathetic. In fact Theron is at her absolute best when she really makes you feel disgusted by her (Monster, Young Adult, Tully). Of course, it might have something to do with her not seeming likw a nice person in real life haha!
