True, I hope she will be.
I noticed the story description talks about seven characters. They've definitely changed a lot from the book. I'm like 60% done it and the only main characters in the book are Margaret, Mercy, & Hilary. I think it's pretty neat though that the adaptation will have 7 leads. So many roles for women. This is such a great move on Nicole's part.

Is Nicole in an arms race with Reese Witherspoon to prove who is now the most powerful actress turned producer in Hollywood? Both of them seem to have something announced every other week.
One good thing about both Reese and Nicole is that they both actually seem to get things made pretty quickly. Some of their male equivalents just option a ton of books and they never get made or stay in development hell for years on end (Leonardo Dicaprio is the biggest culprit of this).

Wow. She is scoring in both producing and acting. I hope she stars in this also. I'd love to see her in an Amazon drama because I think Amazon will fully support in promoting this show/movie since they are trying to compete and be considered on par with Netflix, HBO, and hollywood studios.
Makes me wonder two things though: I wonder if her lucrative contract with HBO precludes her from starring in another streaming service like Amazon (but okay if just producing). If so, then maybe she won't star in this (I hope she does). I also wonder if she's starring in this, when is she scheduling her filming knowing that she also has to do "The Undoing" with HBO (under David E. Kelley) too?
Anyway, I like hearing about these upcoming Nicole projects nonetheless!

Oh, just realized that she has that lucrative contract with Amazon and not with HBO.. but she has a couple of projects with HBO so that's why I got confused.

Oh I hope she is only producing.. this sounds like a good project for female characters, but I rather see her in something darker and more complex.

I LOVE the subject material. Seems a strong story (less excited for The Undoing scheduled for next year). I hope she stars in it but maybe if the story is set to be filmed in China is too much for her

If it is filmed in Hong Kong, it may be harder to get the best potential actresses to commit to it. I would much rather her star in this than The Undoing and Truly Madly Guilty, though, I must say. This book is so much more original than the other two.

I didn't read the book, so I shouldn't judge from the basic description they mention in the article, still I rather see her in a film. I think with BLL 1 & 2, TOTL I prefer to see her doing more films, will be great if she confirms a film project with a solid director. She is at the top of her game again and I want to see her work with well established film makers in risky daring projects. Like last year's film run, Deer and beguiled were simply stunning.

I was reading an interview with Sandra Oh, recently and she was talking about how when she received the script of Killing Eve she asked her agent what role was she offered, was it the secretary? or some other tertiary role. And she was floored when they told her it was the lead, and then she discussed how as an actress she couldn't allow herself to feel like there was discrimination or a lack of roles in the industry to women who look like her because she felt her performances would be affected and it would be demoralizing, but on the other hand it was extremely hard to pretend like everything was ok.
So here is hoping they go with out of the box casting not just the usual names but I'd love for Kidman to work with Gong Li.
I'm sure Gong Li can help roping wong kar-wai.

Is one of the characters Asian? I also thought of the stunning Ziyi Zhang - her, Li or Oh would be lovely <3

Gong Li and Maggie Cheung out of retirement. Think Nicole should play the Australian role. Rachel Weisz might still be on maternity leave lol so Tilda Swinton and Gillian Anderson for me.
