Personally speaking, Trespass remains my least favorite film of hers. It's SUCH an unpleasant watch. I hate to say it but that the one time I felt even Kidman was not 'into' it.
In HTTTGAP, she at least embraced the excessive garishness and cheap, ugly kitsch of 70's punk so well in the limited screen time she's given. It's not a Kidman film but she made the role her own.
I genuinely felt an unease watching Strangerland. I felt the dusty outback, the sweaty daze, the sexual tension, the misery of parenthood. It really was an incomprehensible mess and could have been a taut, jittery thriller. But I thought it really did have redeeming qualities.
Genius was just...boring and uninspired. It was unimaginative. But there was some spark. I loved the glimpses into the wonders of the written word and book publishing.
Much has been said about GoM. It was ineptly made. It's mostly horrendous. But I watched the Arash Amel quarantine cut recently and thought hmmm... interesting, this isn't as bad as I'd thought it was.

The question wasn't least favourite film, but it was which of Kidman's films did you anticipate the most and ended up really disappointing you the most. S

hahaha personally i don't like queen of the desert but i don't hate it either. it's not a "bad" movie, nor embarrassing like grace of Monaco but its often boring and flat. no really bad performances but again a wasted opportunity. i don't know how the director and screenwriter made their choices or at least based on what. Same here, didn't hate it; just thought it needed more tension and dramatising, or conflict if you will. She kinda coasts through everything, and you don't really learn much about her, or the Arab world. Maybe a 5/10? Definitely better than GOM, Secret in their Eyes and some of the others. yes exactly it's a 5/10 for me also, the only difference is that I like secret in their eyes for what it is haha

I took a day to think about it and I must say it was a toss up between strangerland and before i go to sleep, I was so looking forward to these two films, especially after the humiliating bombing of GOM, I really thought these two projects would give me performances and films I would relish but unfortunately both I found terrible. I'd give the worst edge to B4IG2S because I tried so hard to like it and her performance but it I just couldn't. Strangerland has atleast somethings going for it, but I really was so hyped for it, I had all these grand visions of an outback existential sexuality crisis with Kidman and Hugo weaving but instead it was very subdued dull affair. so it was a double dose of "extreme" disappointment amidist the shadow of Grave of Monaco. the only good thing about strangerland is her performance and the cinematography. the problem is with the script, the whole cast gave a fine performance but sadly the story didn't go anywhere. my impression was why they made this movie? where's the story?! before I go to sleep on the other hand isn't good but not bad either but definitely not for her. it feels like a made for TV thriller. coming right after grace of Monaco, i admit it was hard to tolerate.

I would never take any of Kidmam's duds backs, her failures and her successes is what makes her rollercoaster of a career so thrilling and fascinating. but here is a potential good topic for a thread, what is her most disappointing dud? you know, the one that actually stung so bad after it released because of great expectations? hmm now that is something that will need some thought! I agree with this. The only film I always wish can disappear from Kidman's filmography is GENIUS. I think it is the worst performance of Kidman. omg i really despise this movie so much, big waste of time.

What a mess Grandage did with that movie. Jesus, 2014-2016 were catastrophic years. I wish I could delete them from her filmography. for me i wouldn't say 2016,since lion was released in November 2016 and even Paddington in the beginning of 2015. the disastrous year was 2014.

I haven't been following Nicole's career for that long, so I can't really attest to the time when each project came out.
BUT when it comes down to base solely on premise/project, I really thought Strangerland had completely wasted potential. It's an interesting enough premise, Kidman's the lead and she gets super emotional moments, and yet the movie goes absolutely nowhere and shows up with nothing. It should've been a great Kidman performance (mommy issues, confused Kidman, increasingly dangerous situation) but it didn't even take advantage of that.
By no means is Trespass a good movie, but honestly its not terrible as a schlocky hatewatch. Did that movie buy her a new house or something? Why did she even do it? I don't mind that there's a hilariously bad Nic Cage movie in the mix, it gives her texture.
HTTGAP is meh to me but I love Kidman being insane in it. She just did whatever and I think it was fun and memorable. I like to see her having fun with a role.
BIGTS is actually quite fun if you take it as a straightforward thriller (almost like Malice). Isn't it good? No. But it's an entertaining AND highly watchable, which is more than I could say for some of her other work.

You know, she has been in some bad movies, but I still find her performances intriguing or redeeming at least in most of them. But I truly disliked her performance in Queen of the Desert, and the movie is just lackluster. So that.
