oh she has so many bad projects... like really bad films I can't bring myself to re-watch. the most disappointing in my opinion was GOM, that was embarrassing! it almost ended her career. Australia was also a huge blow. I think that's when no one wanted her anymore and she turned to producing.

Am I the only person who likes that movie here? haha

The question isnt about bad projects, its most dissapointing project for you. A film you really thought would be great but was a big let down for you.

Didn't mean that in a snarky way! i genuinely thought it was funny how users kept misinterpreting the question. Love to all! Sorry you didn't like Destroyer. I thought it would have been a better movie with fewer flashbacks - they made the story more longwinded than it needed to be. But I thought the movie was okay and Nicole did the best she could with the role.

I was over the moon when the project was announced, then we saw on set pics and she looked stunning, my expectations went higher, then we saw the trailer and i was like YES, finally they announced the film opening Cannes and that's when i was like this is going to be massive and her second Oscar is secured.... then it happened .....my dreams were crushed lol

Thanks Paperboy, I also would like to add the Golden Compass, god I was so looking forward to this film! and Kidman aced the role, but the studio had to go and f' everything up because they were terrified from the church, so guess what they sealed their own fate with the watered down film, such a gigantic waste, Actors check, cg check, script check. oh no, lets go and destroy this whole thing because we are too afraid to offend religious zealots who wont watch the film anyways. here is a scene from the original trailer!

This is a tricky question lol. These days I think I try to be kind of neutral when approaching new projects, and then I can be surprised if I really love it, rather than being super disappointed for having my hopes up so high. Though I do think my hopes get the best of me at times lol.
The Goldfinch - This was a big disappointment, though I had read the book and was quite sure the film would not really work as the book is way too long to be adapted into a good film, that would include all of the nuances from the novel. Though I had a bit of hope for John Crowley as Brooklyn was such a lovely film, but this novel is just not adaptable in a film format.
Secret in Their Eyes - The cast was really exciting, and it came out not too long after Chiwetel's incredible performance in 12 Years a Slave, so I hoped it would work out because of the people involved. It was rather pedestrian though, with Nicole's role not making a huge impact.
Queen of the Desert - On AwardsWatch, I think the moment the first screening was finished, there was like a record of users online in that films' news thread anticipating the reactions, lmao. Like, I want to say like 700 people?! So yeah, a lot of us were so curious to know how that one would be, and then it kind of almost seemed to disappear.
The Railway Man - This was the first of the Firth/Kidman collaborations to come out so I had some expectations for it and them working together, and Firth had just done A Single Man and The King's Speech a few years before. But it was quite dull.
Genius - Honestly, the cast in this one still boggles my mind. Kidman, Linney, Firth, Law, Pearce, West, and even Vanessa Kirby before The Crown! And knowing Kidman and Linney would be in a film together, I let myself become super excited for this one. I actually think it's okay on the whole, not a terrible film. But when this cast was announced I remember people saying that it would be nominated for the Oscars and get the SAG ensemble win... Sigh.
Grace of Monaco - We all know the drill with that one. That was rough.

I couldn't not get excited with my two favourite actresses working together though. When Laura's casting was announced that was like the most exciting thing for me. And I am glad that they had scenes together, so the film is not a complete failure for me. It's not great, but it's fine.

I’ll go with disappointment in the true sense.
The Golden Compass. Kidman was fine. More than fine. We were robbed of a film series. We really were. I have some films I don’t care for naturally, the majority of her work I appreciate because she’s my favourite. So I won’t do least favourites. As I feel disappoint genuinely for me points to TGC. Because Kidman was so mesmerising and well it’s always gonna be the one that got away.

Because Kidman could have done so much more and it was all taken away from us due to the cowardice of the studio.
