Oh holden, I saw the video and now remember why I felt so pissed about it. She was naming names. She made Kidman sound like a product of Weinstein's machinery. And her mocking tone was so dismissive. In so many years of acting and giving interviews, Our Lady has never thrown mud at anyone else. So classy and supportive. Maybe this year with House of Gucci she could get some awards recognition.

Thanks Holden for digging that out, you really are a central repository for all things Kidman! And the truth is that year Weinsten was gunning for Zellwegger in Chicago, and was trying to bury the hours because of Scott Rudin.

I understand Hayek's frustration. Is it a bit petty, sure but we all get caught up in the heat of the moment. In my opinion, it's a little unfair for Hayek to compare herself to Kidman because she only started making movies in 1993 (1995 being her breakout role with Desperado) while Kidman had been in the conversation at least since 1989, if not earlier. Six years makes a lot of different in the acting world, and of course race definitely plays into it, but it doesn't seem like an equal comparison. Zellweger or even Moore would've proven her point better.
Eh, it's all water under the bridge for me. A lot of people don't like Kidman and it's difficult to change their opinion, so their opinion just doesn't matter to me. There's plenty of other actresses who have had as much freedom as Kidman, and they've taken boring well tread Oscar bait roles. If you can't see Kidman's risks, then who am I to convince you.
As for Samantha Morton, she was quite bitter about Fur, no? It might suck to be dropped out of a project like that, but come on, it even happened to Kidman in 2008 with Mamma Mia. The late 00s were the absolute worst for producers oversight. It's an opportunistic industry, and it's not like the biggest studio projects were interesting (historical dramas, play adaptation, blah, blah, blah). I'm always in the mindset that it's more important for a director to have more money for his creative vision than it is to give up and coming artists a moment. There's a better chance of those actors finding other roles than those directors finding A list actors. To each their own though!

I'm sorry, but Salma is a bitch. Her frustration for the lack of roles is obviously fair, but most of what she insists Nicole said is simply fabrication and slander.
This is what Nicole said in her speech: "Kevin Huvane, who read this script and said, 'Nicole, read this now. It's the best screenplay I've read in a long time.'" That's it. No more. She didn't brag about all the scripts she has received, but Salma went on and on and on like an insane person.
I'm sorry if you disagree with me on this. Salma is a bitch.

Moved all posts here since I feel like it was distracting from the Ricardo thread.
I'll add Kristen Dunst to the list along with Salma Hayek lol.

Courtney Love also hates Nicole. She lost the role of Satine to Nicole. Then again, it's Courtney Love, so who cares.

If she think she has a lack of screenplay just because she is latina she should reborn asiatic next time, so she would no complain so much...there is a lack of roles for a lot of ethnies in Hollywood. If you have a strong ispanic accent does not help you at all... She could study and improve her language with all the money and time she had had in her life, and be considered for a lot much more roles. People like Vikander, Bardem, Cotillard, Waltz, Skarsgan family, worked so hard to improve their accent and be considered for role out from character of their country. Usually if studio need an ispanic latina actress with a strong accent they go for Cruz 99% of the time.

I like Salma. I think she's pretty funny. I don't know, I don't really care about what other celebrities say about Nicole because it all seems so inconsequential. I think she's painfully shy that it's a little off putting to some people (and she's been since the beginning, we've all seen that 60 Minutes segment).
The Courtney Love thing is quite funny. Absolutely amazed to know that Nicole started small talk with her in the elevator after Courtney had gone to national publications saying how much she dislikes Nicole. I wonder if Nicole just can't pick up if people dislike her? I wouldn't be surprised.
I've also always wondered what her and Bjork's relationship is like after Nicole ignored the letter she sent her. I hope they do press together for The Northman. I think they're both insane in different ways, but they would get along in my mind.

I understand she is not happy about her place in the film since she is the No.1 girl of Sophia. also she's a quite good friend to Tom Cruise right?

What's Nicole's relationship with Julianne Moore. Whenever they interacted, it felt odd. Not to mention, whenever she comes up in an interview, Julianne looks a little..... strange.

I don't know how Moore felt about Kidman, but I don't care and respect her too, even if she hates Kidman's The Hours win.

I think their relationship is curt and professional. Now Tilda Swinton I have another inkling about her not liking kidman.

I think Julianne Moore likes and respect Nicole a lot just like Nicole like and respect Julianne. They were both very complimentary towards each other during The Hours promo. Also, there was lovely chat between them during Critics Choice Awards in 2012 when they were both nominated. One of those Nicole's "bump into each other" interviews:) It was lovely.

About Salma Hayek comments... Really not nice. I can understand her frustration and she could easily say something like "Oh, I would love to read more scripts and have more opportunities just like Nicole Kidman". Still not nice but passable like making a point about latina actresses and lack of roles for them. But she was really awful and she ridiculed Nicole and her win. That Harvey part was particularly awful. The whole comment make her sound really jealous. Still jealous after like 17-18 years? Jealous because of the "lack of big Miramax campaign". I know it was a struggle for her to even make a movie about Frida, get the role and mostly financing it be herself... but come on! Blame the system, not one actress.
