By the way Kidman winning that special cannes award is not really a Cannes best actress win in my eyes.

By the way Kidman winning that special cannes award is not really a Cannes best actress win in my eyes. yes, it's more like a gift from a group of senior cinema fans to me. even it's way more rare than best actress. I agree - I would argue better than a best actress, cuz they were acknowledging what a LEGEND she is - above actor/actress!

I've never watched a Chastain movie anymore since then... Me in general I cannot tolerate Chastain on screen, she is one of those actors that lack screen presence. Also I've never found any of her output interesting.

Also I've never found any of her output interesting. I think she has a good presence and i loved her in The help and take shelter. Also she killed it in salome with pacino, on stage. But her complete lack of a sense of humour and feminist agenda have really me put me off and i havent seen one of her films in years. Like, she just appeared out of nowhere and started giving lectures to an entire industry. Very offputting

What is upset is that year Kidman was in two well received movie, with a jury in her favor (very rare) with Almodovar who clearly loved her performance and Park Chan Wook...she was the favorite in any prediction, someone said for Lanthimos, someone for Beguiled... I saw the ceremony so confident she was never so close to get that, and... No, Chastain said no. Diane Kruger for a movie booed by everyone. I got the feeling jealousy was part of her choice. Obviously just speculation, I don't know if there is a fan of her here, but I imagined went this way. Sigh

Based on pure conjecture and speculation: THE NORTHMAN Robert Eggers' "The Witch" and "The Lighthouse" aren't exactly Academy-friendly, though the latter film scored a cinematography nomination. Still, expectations are high for "The Northman," an epic Viking revenge saga. Alexander Skarsgård stars as Norse Prince Amleth, along with Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe, and Björk. Even if this doesn't break in above the line, there's lots of potential for craft nominations like cinematography, costumes, production design, and more. There's a chance the film might be pushed to next season, but since it wrapped filming this past December, I'm hoping it can be finished in time. Release Date: 2021 or 2022 Oscar Potential: Director, Cinematography, Costume Design, Makeup & Hairstyling, Production Design & Sound BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS Cate Blanchett - "Armageddon Time" Jodie Comer - "The Last Duel" Ann Dowd - "Mass" Meryl Streep - "Don't Look Up" Anya Taylor-Joy - "The Northman www.nextbestpicture.com/latest/year-in-advance-oscar-predictions-for-2021

I would much rather see her nominated for this, tbh, or Soho, than the David O. Russell film. It's embarrassing enough people are giving that man more chances after all he's done.

Yes the fashion was lacking but for me Angela Bassett owned this years fashion race. She looked like a Goddess! www.vogue.com/slideshow/angela-bassett-oscars-2021-academy-awards-diaryI’d love to see her work with Nicole in the future. With all these tv projects Nicole has lined up, there’s bound to be something for Angela! And also Angela could direct a couple of episodes! What do you guys think?

Zendaya, Carey and Angela looked stunning. Viola, Laura Dern, Regina, OMG, what was that??? Overall, it was a very disappointing night...but to be fair, Nicole's most recent Oscar looks have been quite disappointing too.
