Lanthimos's production of his new movie is set to begin next week and it will take around 8 weeks. I really doubt TKOASD will make it to Cannes.

For real? 8 month shoot is like some James Cameron level.

Yorgos Lanthimos developed/filmed The Lobsetr during spring 2014 & the movie wasn't released until 2016. I wonder if this is his modus operandi. May be he spends a lot of time on post-production?

To be fair, The Lobster made a debut at Cannes 2015 & was a 2015 release in a lot of countries including UK, France, Italy, Ireland, Greece, Netherlands, South Korea, and Australia.

I believe Alchemy initially had bought it and A24 picked it up from them when they fell to bad times. I think it was postponed from being a winter 2015 release to spring 2016 and finally summer 2016. I guess it's a good sign international distributors are acquiring rights even before the festival circuit.

I hope that KOSD is pushed to September, I would prefer Cannes to focus on the Beguiled and HTTTGAP.

I read on twitter the other day from a Cannes insider that it will not be ready for Cannes.

I am sure the beguiled will be at Cannes but it is not definite that it will be in the competition. It could be in UCR or just an opening film. Therefore I hope TKOASD will be ready for Cannes as surely it must be a Palme d'or contender. I would also love HTTTGAP in a midnight screening and an out of competition screening for Top of the Lake too. In my dreams TKOASD screens on the first Saturday (normally when they screen the masterpiece of the selection) and Nicole wins Best Actress or the jury copy what her jury did to Blue is the warmest colour and she gets a Palme d'or. I wanted Cannes 2017 to be renamed Kidmannes lol.
