I am sure the beguiled will be at Cannes but it is not definite that it will be in the competition. It could be in UCR or just an opening film. Therefore I hope TKOASD will be ready for Cannes as surely it must be a Palme d'or contender. I would also love HTTTGAP in a midnight screening and an out of competition screening for Top of the Lake too. In my dreams TKOASD screens on the first Saturday (normally when they screen the masterpiece of the selection) and Nicole wins Best Actress or the jury copy what her jury did to Blue is the warmest colour and she gets a Palme d'or. I wanted Cannes 2017 to be renamed Kidmannes lol. I think she definitely deserves a Cannes Best Actress at some point!

Three possible films at Cannes! I have a feeling not all three will be there. And I'm sure one will disappoint (the Beguilled best bet). I just hope we get some news on HTTGP already!

With Cannes it's better to adjust expectations on all three projects. Due to the nature and subject material of the films they all could be misfires or successes.

Let's also not forget that the press and overall reactions at Cannes tend to be hysterical due to festival's nature

Very true and thanks for reminding me. I'll readjust. For me, I just pray HTTTGAP delivers. But it might be too good to be true after BLL and Lion.

Cannes makes me very uncomfortable. Hysterical is the right word, I agree.

Cannes makes me very uncomfortable. Hysterical is the right word, I agree. So true. The Paperboy and Grace of Monaco received such overreaction. Someone would think Grace was the worst film ever made in the history of mankind based on the Cannes reactions.

Kidman has recently only been talkig about this project and The Beguiled as movies that are coming out next. Maybe because those are the movies she is getting ready to talk about in Cannes?

There are strong rumors coming from industry people that this is indeed screening at Cannes in competition.
I hope this is the case, and that it is her ticket to a Best Actress Prize, but somehow I don't think she'll get it,
I mean how often do big stars get the prize at Cannes ? They tend to award unknown actors.
She would have to be undeniable to get it, I think.
Anyway, I hope that the film delivers critics-wise.

I think she deserves the actress award. I know award wins aren't everything but would be wonderful for Nicole to add one and hoping later this year and Emmy and a SAG next year to her award collection.
I'm hoping after the biased bashing of GOM, that this time round Nicole get's the acclaim she deserves. I mean they third time lucky? After Lion and BLL. Here's hoping!

I am hoping it is awarded as like a career achievement. The same as when Juliette Binoche won for Certified Copy and Julianne Moore for Maps to the Stars.

I don't understand why Nicole didn't win Cannes for Dogville. Marie-Josée Whoze? Les irrelevant barbares? *
*I've never seen it so maybe it's amazing sorry!
At this point though I don't quite see her winning Best Actress at Cannes, maybe ever. I mean, if they're not going to give it to Cotillard...
