To me Kidman's dual wins last year or was it the year before? is enough for me, I'm not to bothered with her missing out, but do they have something against Reese? they gave her nothing. It seems the emmys made more of an effort with representation this year and thats not to say they arent deserved. exepct this to be repeated in future awards shows, there will more likely than not be less place to fight for as spots will be reserved to meet the representation quota. I'm very happy that Regina King and Sandra Oh got in this time. edit also i'm ecstatic that gate the great got a nomination! hope these two win their categories. Oh winning for a Season 3? Like come on? Did she even have a storyline? She was underused and was not given material to act even:) I think Cate Blanchett is winning or Shira Haas. King will be fine. She have already three Emmys.

I'm not too shocked by these because people were predicting it but I agree with whoever said that another award body that only nominates Nicole when they absolutely have to. I mean, I watch KE diligently, even as its quality has dropped since the brilliant first season, but Sandrah Oh did nothing this season, lol. My twitter TL used to go nuts for the show and now no one watches it, and yet it overperformed just the same (or THT, who no one watches anymore and didn't even have its lead nominated but it made it in Best Drama just the same). BLL2 was an event when it premiered and plenty of people went crazy for it, but they like to forget it because they thought it was disappointing. Now, the same thing happened with GOT and it still managed at the Emmys just fine.
Anyways, whatever, as someone said, we'll have 9PS and The Undoing, so I'm not too worried. Some of these noms were a big mess anyway so it's not only Nicole. Poor Reese, too. The Emmys are a bit like a worse version of the Oscars in that they name-check Emmy darlings like CRAZY because they can be up multiple times for the same show so they can love them big time. And they also nominate nothing performances from the same show when they love it or nominate the wrong people for it (Paulson not making it but her girlfriend getting a nom for Hollywood? Please).
I am very happy for Dern, tho, she was the best thing (for me) from BLL2 and, even though Nicole did much better than some of the Best Actress in a Drama nominees, at least a deserving actress got a nomination for BLL2. And this brings me to the last thing, and don't kill me: Meryl (or Meh, as I call her) didn't deserve her nom, and was only name-checked, like 95% of the times she's up for an award. I'm so tired of her getting nominated for every damn thing she does, even if she's atrocious in it, like in BLL2, where she's terrible (I'm sure people saw the screaming clip on twitter and said 'check'). When The Prom is released and there are literally no films because of COVID-19 and she begins to get nominations starting at the Globes but they still snub Nicole... I'm gonna go crazy, be warned jajajajaj It's the "It's Meh or bust" rule with everything she's in. She's like poison. She gets a nom and the project flops, every time.

One thing I hope all of you remember Awards shows are never about merit they are always about trends, politics, powerplay and themes for the times. This just shows us how undeniable Kidman's sweep was! she had to go there for them to reward her otherwise they would find an excuse to look elsewhere! its the same with all the other awards bodes bar the Golden Globes.

I know. You're right. I'm just pissed off. In my opinion she deserved that "afterglow" nomination. That's all.

SO furious, in kind of a state of shock at the moment, actually. Nicoleโs Celeste was JUST as affecting second time around. And the Best Drama snub? I just have no words...!

It's okay guys! Obviously, I wanted Nicole Kidman to get more Emmy nominations, but she'd already won TWO, which are satisfying enough for me. She's already a living legend. One or two more Emmy nods will have no effects whatsover. Anything else for Big Little Lies is just a bonus at this point (Kudos to Laura Dern's nomination - I think she was definitely the MVP of season 2).
Now, what truly stings is Reese Witherspoon's lack of nomination. She is a perfectly fine actress, but she's been overshadowed by her co-leads (Nicole Kidman, Kerry Washington, Jennifer Aniston) in every single one of her TV series. Granted, I agree with the critics that all those names gave better performances than Reese fair-and-square, but she's still very solid. So, I can't help feeling bad for her. Well, at least she already won an Oscars and Emmys (for producing BLL).

Reese needs to pick for herself something strong and solo again!

Actually I am heartbroken for Nicole. She is way better in season two than season one. She deserves the nomination and even WINS. Those court scenes just simply masterpiece.

I'm very disappointed ๐ she deserves recognition for that performance in S2. Oh well, after watching so much TV in the last few months, I don't think the Emmys is a true reflection of any quality work really...so many brilliant tv shows and acts were completely ignored, like Deadlock said it's politics... Don't worry, the queen will rise again. She always does ๐

Don't worry, the queen will rise again. She always does ๐ Thanks for that perspective dedlock and paperboy, I needed that - I kept having pangs of sadness thinking about it during the day today. When you step back (especially amongst everything that is happening in the world at the moment), you realise how silly and insignificant things like 'awards' are - art is supposed to be made to tell a story, to move you, to make you feel - not to be ranked and awarded. I get the feeling Nicole has probably been a bit stung by the events today, but I hope she will come to put it into perspective too, and realise how important her work is to us all <3

i don't think she was disappointed guys, first season was all about her, she's one of the main reasons of it's success, she won every single award out there. let's not forget the decline in terms of quality when it comes to the writing in season two... still i think she deserves that nomination but it's okay, when you say BLL every one will remember Nicole kidman and her flawless and amazing performance in the first season.
